Welcome to Raven's Edge pottery & Flowers
My pottery life is still an ongoing exploration of the fine art of building functional ware and fantasy fairy houses.
I have my own small studio, with a wheel and small electric kiln. Although I started with hand building and sculpting, I also make functional work using the wheel. I fire Cone 04 & 6 oxidation, using my own glazes.
I continue to work with dirt, and am actively growing a flower farm - a nano-farm - in Errington. I have bouquets at the Errington Farmers Market, every Saturday from May to September.

Faerie Houses
Forest Faerie House
Loss of natural habitat in many areas has made it difficult for Faeries to find appropriate housing. We can help Faeries find a place in our community by providing houses for them. I have been building Faerie Houses in clay, but there are many ways to build them.
Faeries do important jobs for us. They scatter seeds while they dance, make rainbows, add dew drops to spider webs...Paint leaves in autumn, draw frost patterns in winter...They open buds that are reluctant and help bees and ladybugs find their way.
Forest Faerie houses are pretty tough and can stay out for the winter. .

Mixed California Giant Zinnias
Zinnias are just some of the bright annuals I grow. They are long lived in the vase.
Finding the right size vase for flowers can be a challenge. Tall, top heavy flowers like gladiolus need a heavy bottomed vase to keep from tipping over. Flowers with small stems like nasturtiums need a narrow neck with a flared rim to better display the flower heads.
Fortunately, as a potter, I can build what I need to display my flowers at home.
Keep your flowers looking good longer by adding a bit of food in the form of sugar, trimming the stems every few days and changing the water. Keep them out of the sun and you can enjoy the bouquet for longer.
